I cared for both my father and stepfather, providing palliative care and helping them through the difficult last moments of their lives. This was sad but I also found it very important that I was able to be there for them during this time.

This made me want to become a carer and offer others what I was able to offer my own family. I realised that I excelled at caring, since I am someone who is full of empathy. I like to provide my full attention to the person I am caring for, which is why I prefer live-in work to residential work, since it is possible to provide that one-to-one care.
I love to do crosswords, to travel, swim and to cook. Recently I have started getting into cooking Thai food but I can cook almost anything since I owned a catering company for 10 years.

‘I have known Annmarie since we were 11 years old. She finds the role very rewarding and talks about her role with such satisfaction. You can tell that her work means a lot to her and that she always does her best. She has nursed and cared for people through their darkest hours and never stops supporting her clients and their families when they need her. She has a tremendous amount of compassion and will do anything she can to help whoever is in her care.’- D.P – friend for over 30 years
