Discover the differences between introductory and managed live-in care and choose what’s best for you.
Which service is best for me or my loved one?
Both services offer professional, live-in care specialists working to provide care in the comfort and security of your own home. Below we’ve outlined some of the key differences between the two services:
Introductory Service
- Speed of Service: Care can begin quickly and often in less than 24 hours
- Area: UK wide coverage.
- Choice of Carer: We’ll work with you to match your specific needs offering you a choice of professional freelance carers.
- Matching: Once you’ve chosen the carer that best matches your needs, the carer provides their service directly to you.
- Fees: Your payments are managed directly via our online portal which supports your preferred payment method.
- Quality Assurance: Introductory live in carers from our team have been fully vetted and reference checked, with standardised training, care insurance, right to work checks and a clean DBS. This service is not monitored by the CQC (Care Quality Commission). All carers are expected to adhere to our care standards policy and safeguarding policy which clearly lays out what is expected of carers. All carers are self employed.
- Continuity of care: When your carer needs takes a break we’ll happily source a replacement for you and for no additional search fee.
Managed Service
- Meeting National Standards: CQC regulation ensures the agency adheres to stringent national standards for quality and safety in health and social care. This provides peace of mind for clients and their families that the care provided meets a recognized benchmark.
- Regular Inspections and Monitoring: The CQC conducts regular inspections and monitoring of regulated services. This ongoing oversight ensures the agency maintains high standards and continuously improves, with findings and ratings publicly available for transparency.
- Safe Care Protocols: Regulated agencies must follow strict guidelines on safety protocols, including medication management, infection control, risk assessments, and safeguarding from abuse, ensuring a secure environment for the client.
- Initial Needs Assessment and Bespoke Care Plan: At the outset, a dedicated Care Manager will visit the client’s home to conduct a thorough care needs assessment. This in-depth evaluation forms the basis for creating a truly bespoke and individualised care plan, ensuring all specific needs, preferences, and goals are identified and addressed.
- Adaptable Care Plans: Care plans can be adapted as the client’s needs change, ensuring they always receive the appropriate level of support without the upheaval of moving to a care home.
- Professional, Employed Carers: We match your specific needs with one of our professional, directly employed carers.
- Rigorous Carer Recruitment and Training: CQC-regulated agencies have robust recruitment processes, including thorough vetting, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, and reference checks. Carers undergo extensive training and ongoing professional development in line with CQC standards, ensuring they are well-equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competence to provide high-quality care, including specialist care for conditions like dementia, Parkinson’s, brain injury, or cerebral palsy.
- Carer Supervision and Support: Your carer is directly employed and managed by us at The Live In Care Company, receiving regular supervision, appraisals, and support from your designated Care Manager. This ensures consistent quality and efficient issue resolution.
- Transparent Set Weekly Fees: With a set weekly fee, you will know exactly how much you will be charged each week. This eliminates the worry of unexpected or fluctuating costs that can arise with hourly rates or unbundled services, making it much easier for families and funders to budget effectively.
- Fully Managed Service: Our fully managed service handles all aspects of care provision, including carer recruitment, training, supervision, holiday cover, and sickness cover. This reduces the administrative burden and stress on families, funders, and case managers.
- Accountability and Complaint Resolution: CQC-regulated providers are accountable to a regulatory body, ensuring transparency in their operations. Regulated agencies also have clear and accessible complaints processes, providing a mechanism for clients and families to raise concerns and have them addressed effectively.
We are here to help
Empowering our clients and their families to decide which type of live in care they require is very important to us here at the The Live In Care Company.
If you would like a service that can begin within 24 hours, where you will have a wide choice of carer, and where, with our support, you are happy to liaise directly with the carer regarding the service needed and given you the initial support to get started, then our Introductory Live In Care service is perfect for your needs.
If you would rather work with a dedicated Care Manager offering 24/7 emergency support in addition to your live-in carer then our managed live-in care service, regulated by the CQC, will meet all your requirements.
